Position: Offense (Flag Carrier)


Advantages:

The Scout, by far the fastest class in TFC, makes an excellent flag capturer. Once he gets the enemy flag, no other class will be able to catch him as he rushes back to capture it. So the Scout's main attribute is his speed.


Disadvantages:

Of course, when you're this fast, you know you're not very well-equipped. His weakness is his strength. He has the lowest health and armour of any class, and carries only lightweight guns, that do little damage to an enemy. Your max health level is 75, which is far lower than any other class, so try not to get shot. Be sure to grab some Armor before leaving the resupply!

Disarms enemy detpack!

Scouts are the only class that can disarm a demolition mans detpack if coming into contact with them. WARNING: This can be dangerous, as the timer for the detpack is usually set for only 5 seconds - you don't have much time to defuse it. If you're some distance away while a demoman laying the detpack, it'll probably be safer to run away.


Unmask enemy spy’s

The 2nd ability is the Scout's ability to unmask enemy spy’s on touch. If you run into a disguised enemy Spy, that Spy will instantly lose his disguise!




Tips


Run, Run and Run!

You can use that amazing speed to your advantage. Since it is the weakest class in the game, it’s usually a bad idea to get into a fight with the enemy. You are unlikely to win it. They will never able to shot you, if you try to run in a random “zig and zag” fashion (like a rabbit). So do not run in straight lines! You have to learn how to strafe (sidestep left and right) while you are running and moving around a map. Never stop or walk backwards if there's trouble ahead. Remember: your goal is to get the Flag, not kill the enemy. Leave the killing to your team-mates who are playing fighting classes.


Beating  SG's

SG's are the biggest hindrance to a scout, because of his low health. The SG can kill you within seconds. But the SG's need a second to lock onto their target before they start to fire. You can use this time, to rush past the sentry or to search some area to cover.


It is also possible to run around the gun in a circle. You are fast enough, so the sentry will not shooting you and you can shoot at the gun as you go around it.


You can also find a place where you can see the sentry, but outside its range of fire. Now the scout can use his nail gun for eliminating the SG. So you can usually blow it up by peeking out from behind cover until a tiny portion of the SG is visible. Then, it's simply a matter of firing a steady stream of nails at the SG until it goes up. It will take a few seconds, so try to be aware of your surroundings while doing this.


Concuss enemy defenders

If there are a lot of enemy defenders in a room, use your Concussion grenades (throw grenade type 2) to soften them. Hopefully the defenders won't have time to avoid it with only a second's warning. After the grenade has exploded, run like the wind! Concussed defenders find it hard to hit any target. If a player is hit by this wave, he will become disoriented, losing the ability to aim accurately.


Annoy Demoman

If you see a floor covered with pipe bombs, try to look like you are running into them and walk backwards at the last minute. The demoman will blow up them and u can pass through.  Or you try nail-gunning him. It may cause him to panic and blow the pipebombs, so you can get past or you may have to kill him which will blow the pipebombs allowing you to get past.


Call for help

If the enemy has a defensive position that you just can't get past (or a sentrygun that keeps killing you) - call for backup! Tell your team-mates where the enemy (or sentrygun) is and let them take care of him for you.


The scout isn’t a fighting class!
